Americas Double Standards
 

So i was watching Tv the other day, and i happened to fall upon the series called "The Sopranos"


ok. so its an entertaining show somewhat, but every episode theres alot of killing and shit. You would expect this from the italian mob right ? they were truly some of the First "thugs" right?

just to make sure your still with me. they are THUGS. Yet they get some of the top ratings on H.B.O. and get NO heat about what the show is about, what the show represents and what the show is influencing.



now when a rapper talks about some shit and walks around looking like a thug, he gets all heat and hiphop is nothing but a bunch of thugs and bad influnces.


now for my point - How is it fair that hiphop/rap/mostly BLACK movies/shows/stations ect.. catches so much heat about shit and their CD's (that kids must go out of their way to buy i might add), but shows like the Sopranos and prodominently uncolored (politically correct term - haha) productions and organizations dont.

all a kid has to do is go in the living room and turn on the tv and he has HBo right there.

its a fuckin shame. and sometimes i hate to say it, but america is NOT the "american
dream" for alot of races and cultures.........

The sopranos is one of the better shows thats come out in recent times that deals with realistic subject matter, boasts great award winning actors and awesome dialog..

Name some 'black gangsta' shows that can live up to that...

im not saying its a bad show. im talking aobut subject matter. no matte rhow you look at it, their thugs and gangsters. the same shit america pisses, whines, and complains about in todays society.


only difference is they just wear a suit.....

and oh, its on HBO also. called "The Wire"

The sopranos is very phychologically based.. The show doesent just deal with street crime and thugs.. It deals with the lives of these people on a deep and introspective level.. Theres a lot of black gangsta shows that sort of do the same thing isnt there?

Who are you saying complains all that much? I'm not arguing against, I'm just interested...

I wasn't about to DL that much. So, I just DL'ed 2-3 episodes at a time, watched them, then deleted them off my comp for the next set.

However, I did DL the final season 6 and have that stored on my comp.

I'm pissed though man. They killed off all of my favorite characters.
