Existentialism

your point of view? [/curiosity]

Indeph 07-27-06 03:59 AM

This is basically just believing in indivisuality. I'm all for it in my opinion. But it's also the philosophy of psychotic sociopaths like me so I dont recommend everyone following this. :) Toby u can since you're.. you know, mentally ill.

:)
yeh I been studying it for a while now, scrapped the surface a year ago, but over the last couple of months got deep into it.

Although the entitlement of the philosophy itself defeats its purpous since it now takes away the focus on the indivisuals life by grouping everyone together. But hey whatever erects your penis. Or floats your boat whichever you prefer.

Dont care about it...,,,,

Ysdat 07-27-06 04:11 AM

hmm, I think it runs deeper than indvidualism. As far as I have learnt, its stretched over a few broadened topics.
it reflects on socrates, plato, Kierkegaard's point of views on topics.
I feel it has a incorrect side to it, stating love is mearly to desire,to desire is mearly to seek, but why seek what you allready posses if your in love?
I feel love can allways be bettered, its not a product of eternal search.
But in saying that, I guess it reflects alot on certain mindstates, some people may fall in love with a female, then feel its not what they have been desiring simply because there is no goal ahead of what they have allready "captured". basically it depends on the certain perspective, hence why its a philisophical catagory.

I mean, you obviously know a small amount to have a reason not to take a interest in it.
What caused you to not care?

Indeph 07-27-06 04:18 AM

Love is alot more complex than desire. It's sort of splitting a larger hair than just wanting something. It's appreciation, and attachment, although I'm pretty sure this area of belief is very jedi like and it doesnt approve of attachment. There's a saying that to love is to learn when to let go which kind of contradicts what Existentialism thinks of it. Make sure this philosophy isnt trying to ricket ricket remix buddhism.

yeh, Im one when i read somthing and take time to study it, that doesnt mean Im going to be sold and whatever the book states, im going to belive is right.

Yeh, Existentialism covers alot mroe than love, from what ive learnt it scraps the surface on love. Its more of human existance and some what a philisophical movement.
Its a freedom thing, being aware of death and decision. Its intriuging. Yet im not completly sold.

Indeph 07-27-06 04:24 AM

Whatever happened to you following thug life? :(

Ysdat 07-27-06 04:26 AM

I accidently burnt my copy of The Code, so i asked my bro for his and he gave me this and a bag of apples.

Because I am here, therefore I do exist.

I see what I see infront of me.

I believe logically that the conditions in which life spawned are beyond the factor of simple probability and therefore I do believe there is a god. And I do pray and I have felt results come from my efforts to pray

But obviously humans have no absolute data to observe or prove exactly 'what' this god is if there even is one.

Existentialists are usually just philosophers who try to adapt a sense of reality into religious or athiest views.. Good for them...

It doesent effect me..

I believe things based on fact and very seldom do I make assumptions based on probability. Therefore I have no interest in people philosophising on this existance like we actually have a fucking clue...

There writings can often make for an interesting read, depending on who is writing them.. But like I said, its all only speculation....

Wanna talk on theologans?

I think their fucking crackpots too...

Ysdat 07-27-06 04:42 AM

yeh.

there is definitly no garentees with Existentialism, but there is no garentee's in life.
I dont doubt your point of view on topics like this, hence the reason why i wanted to know why your brushed Existentialism off so easily.
But I feel basing your life on raw "facts" could lead to a less learned life, seen as facts a very rear on earth these days, not to mention the source of facts are allways scetchy.
I slightly felt some contridiction in your post, saying you belive in god yet you live life by what is fact.
Fact to one person these days may not be fact to the next, I also belive in a form of god, I am yet to figure what he or she really is or isnt. But there is no raw facts to back the argument on god, its all personal point of view.
This is what Existentialism looks at, individual point of view and it leaves things open for the person studying, to take his or her previous philisophical knowledge and accumulate there own assumtion/facts on whatever topic they are trying to fullfill.
I say fact/assumtion, cause these days they can easily co-exist hand in hand.

But I respect what your saying bro.

Terumoto 07-27-06 04:42 AM

I haven't experienced personal truth in existentialism, so I don't feel the need to take notice of it.

You realise most of the main philosophers who get called existentialists deny thats what they are...

BTW- Theres no contradiction in my post... I said I seldom believe things based on probability, not never... And I also said "if there even is one" refering to god if you noticed..

And lastly........A life less learned? How is that?

I dont refuse to read baseless philosophies, or even create my own sometimes.

Most knowledge begins based on philosophies and educated guesses.

But speculating on something, and believing something are two different things.

Also.....I dont really know what you mean by there being a lack of facts these days.............I think youll find its quite the oppisite...

Theres more 'facts' now than ever before in our species entire history.... Most with pretty damn reliable sources... In science atleast...
