Why I'll always be blessed...Pt. 2

In the first thread I made regarding the topic of sowing and reaping, I mentioned that God commands believers to tithe their income and give offerings to their church. The principle of sowing and reaping is universal and can be applied by non-believers as well. In the book of Luke, Jesus says this about giving:

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

^^Depending on one's faith, this scripture can be employed to not only spread blessings, but to ensure that you receive blessings as well. I experienced this first hand today when I went to the golf course and received a pleasant surprise. As I went to pay for my round, the cashier refused to take my money and said, "Enjoy your round; this one is on me." WOW...I couldn't believe it. I recently began tithing 15% (5 more than required) of my gross income. What happened at the golf course is an example of how God will move other people to bless you when you least expect it. Nothing like that has ever happened to me.

It's a simple principle. GIVE if you want to RECEIVE.

I believe in the law of sowing and reaping...

I have no negative views on giving money away, because helping people definitely brings happiness.

But what is the church doing with your money?

And what are you giving your money away for?

One thing I do not agree with is giving your money away to receive blessings. If you are doing a selfless act, then do it selflessly, not for a selfish reason. Boasting about it or expecting something in return demeans it.

The church is an institution that does alot with the money it receives. Practically, the building needs to be upkept...You can't pay rent and utilities with good looks. Also, they pay a full time staff that offers bible classes (for free) and has an elementary school. In all, there are over 100 different ministries provided at my church. These need FUNDS to operate.

Boasting? Yes, I am boasting in God. I'm boasting because it's fun seeing God live up to what he says. Giving is fun. Receiving is fun. What's even more fun is knowing that God means what he says because I'm seeing it first hand. Doors are opening to me that just weren't open before. That's my faith. If a person knows to tithe but doesn't, that's the equivalent of robbing God.

I'm bragging on God. Don't get it twisted.

Oh ok. Just asking, because a lot of the churches near me spend the money on like, a new stain glass window or a piano or some crap, instead of things that are worthwhile.

All I was saying in that second bit is you should give without expecting anything in return. If the only reason you are giving is to receive those blessings or to be able to boast about god, then it just doesnt seem right.

No...that's not the ONLY reason I'm giving. But, it is a principle I can employ. If God didn't want us to logically understand, decipher, and then incorporate these principles, he wouldn't have provided them.

I understand what you mean. But, I realize that when I give, I can EXPECT a blessing from God. It's simple. You reap what you sow.

I take. not give. I dont have money to live, so i dont give. Am I evil in gods eyes?

if so then why did he leave me on my own from age 7. no parants, lived in boys homes.

But because I am in need and take not give Im evil? well fuck that then.

I'll stick with being neutral and giving money to people who need it first off, because you can't be too certain the church will spend it on what's important. And if the church thinks that young Bible classes are important, oh well. I suppose I'd rather feed a woman who just ran away from her abusive husband and living on the streets with two children than allow some kid to know how the David and Goliath story.

And plus, I don't want to piss off Quetzacoatl or Odin or whoever. :shoot:
