Fab's Anticipated Album getting...

After having a torrid affair with news headlines this week, Fabolous is putting out some new music.

Def Jam, Fab's record label, confirmed that the rapper's new LP will drop December 26, with a single coming even sooner. On Tuesday morning,

Fabolous was shot in a parking garage and then arrested on his way to the hospital for having firearms in the vehicle (see "Fabolous Shot And Arrested In New York" and "Fabolous Didn't Know He Was Riding With Guns, Attorney Says").

The album is being fast-tracked in the wake of his recent drama. Just two weeks ago, Fab told MTV Radio that he wanted his LP to come out in February because of the jam-packed holiday season.

"The album is called From Nothing to Something," Fab said on the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors red carpet earlier this month (see "Lil' Kim, MC Lyte Put Female MCs Center Stage At Hip-Hop Honors"). "That's the movement we going with, man. For everybody that's trying to turn nothing into something, we're trying to make motivational music for them. Every song is hot on the album. A standout record is a record me and Akon did called 'Change Up.' It's about getting your money, and certain people think you change but it's not always you. Your income changed, but you didn't change as a person."

Fabolous was shot Tuesday morning in front of Diddy's Justin's restaurant and was subsequently hit with two gun charges because of a weapon found in the car taking him to the hospital. New York's Daily News reported Friday (October 20) that a surveillance tape caught the incident on tape and shows Fab's shooter getting away. An NYPD spokesperson refused to confirm or deny the Daily News story, saying the matter is still under investigation.

As for the crowded holiday market Fab hoped to avoid, he can look no further than his own label. On December 12, Young Jeezy drops his The Inspiration: Thug Motivation 102 (see "Young Jeezy Wants Thug Motivation 102 To Convert Nonbelievers"), and on December 19, Nas' Hip-Hop Is Dead ... The N and Ghostface Killah's More Fish hit stores (see "MTV News Exclusive: Nas Previews Hip-Hop Is Dead ... The N").
