Why shouldnt humans kill and eat each other like animals? What gives us any intrinsic dignity to not be savage animals?

Pretty much because it's illegal.

Tribes tend not to kill each other for the sake of, well, surviving. The rules still apply today because despite overpopulation and whatnot, people are taught as children from those old rules of survival, and then pass them on.

maybe cavemen found out human flesh tastes nasty as hell and decided to make it illegal or something to hunt and shit lol, but it is a good thing to discuss like how come human beings are the only species that basically doesnt follow other species' rules, it cant be just cuz of our intelligence or whatever

Im not talking systematic killing, just raw instinct, say someone threatens the food income you recieve, you kill them, similar to animals.

Well, Im saying, if the world revolved around it, no cops would be needed. People can simply join guilds to watch their hide or become vigilantes.

Since humans were intelligent, they discovered that they could work together and hunt more effectively compared to if they were in competition with eachother. So I guess from there on it became kind of obsolete for humans to kill eachother for food. Murder was still cool for revenge and stuff though.
