Who feels the message nas is sending is gonna ruin A part of hiphop

I love that song HipHop is dead. but yo i was thinkin. the song went mainstream and everybodies into "mainstream" these days. And NOBODY listens to the lyrics, and if they do their not intelligent to understand what the hell He's trying to say.

But when you have a song called "hiphop is dead" at number One On MANY different charts. what message do you think is coming across to amatuer hiphop listeners?

i think its gonna have a detrimental effect if people misinterperet the song...thas why i hate when people don't listen to lyrics and just follow the name of the song...and its a shame too because there are so many underground dudes with so much skill achin to make it in the this...and if people with no depth only hear hip hop is dead when they listen to the track it could sway their opinions

thas just how i see it anyways

The song is a shock treatment type song...people been saying hip hop has been dead or on the decline for years...and for a figure head to the game like Nas to say "hip hop is dead" in my eyes is gonna make people stand up and say...errr no it aint...and do their upmost to prove him wrong...

so no to me it's not a message of R.I.P to hip hop...but more like "look...if it keeps going this way...we WILL be making a song like Hip hop is dead and actually saying goodbye to the game...who's gonna sort this mess out?"

Youre also a bandwagoner.
Nas doesnt say anything to put him in the spot people hold him. The only song I liked on his cd was black republican. I also listen to Hustlers, even though I dont like Game.

If youw ant a concious rapper, listen to common or talib. If you want somebody who just all around does it while being a backpacker still, listen to rhymefest, if you want a gangsta rapper, which nas does try sometimes, listen to any other mixtape rapper out there. Its like the only thing good about him, is he does it all, but in no way does he do it the best.

He is classic......pop in Illmatic, stillmatic,God's Son

his lyrics have so much meaning and his voice is ill..same with his flow.....one of the only rappers today i can stand..but he really needs to push Quan out there more

No, just simply no.

Ya, like they said, Nas basically shocked the nation by saying it. He is a very respected hip hop head, and for him to say the whole nation is goin to go 'No it isn't!' and try to show that. I mean, if you listen to some interviews the hosts admit (even on TRL) that rap is not at the same level it use to be.

It was more of a revival. The First Hip Hop Revival.
