Plasma, LCD, or Rear Projection HD
 

What do you all have in your cribs?

God willing, I'm purchasing a new TV in a week. I'm looking at a 42 inch plasma, a 37 inch LCD, and a 52 or 57 inch HD rear projection.

I know the pros and cons of both Plasmas and LCDs. But, what about rear projection TVs? I like the size of it. But, it doesn't allow a high degree of viewing angles.

Which would you get?

LCD, plasma's die fast and projectors are "blah" quality imo, definately LCD

^Yea...wut pisses me off is that u can't get a 42 inch LCD for the same price as a 42 inch plasma...ish is WAAAY more expensive

plasma goes, + if ur playing video games n shit on it, they can easily fuck your screen up.....

rear projection the tubes go, the quality isnt amazing... and i dont know its boxy right

LCD is pretty dope, I have a 30 inch.. and its really good quality... cost me 600 total... Canadian..

^^Yea...I think LCD looks better than plasma...but a 36 inch LCD is like 1000 bucks


And I can get a 42 plasma, which looks great, for the same price...

Plasma is garbage. Easiest way to look at it, SONY, the leading brand in televisions, doesn't even make Plasma any more, just strictly LCD televisions. Plasma's have a glare, give off heat and they cost more to have on the energy bill. They also show a ghosting image from a wide viewing angle, lots of people say they don't but you'll notice it. But it depends if it's for a basement Plasmas look really sharp cause there is no light to reflect off it, but honestly LCD is the way to go.

Now, between a Rear Projection and an LCD it all depends on what you want for size and if you want it being able to be mounted on the wall and all that. If you're taking viewing angle into consideration there really isn't a point to it. Honestly, who watches TV from a 180 degree angle? I mean LCD is cool because they have a 178 degree viewing angle from top to bottom and left to right. But a projection is a fine buy if you want a bigger screen.

Personally I'd go with the SONY XBR 3 40 Inch LCD if I was you, I dunno..

Got a massive new LCD jus recently......

just go LCD honestly, plasma lifespan = shit compared to lcd and RPT... soo really... its ur choice, best bang for ur buck is an HD LCD... if you use HD though.. if not, no need for it... It looks sick with xbox360 games... but thats all I use it for.
