Quick Audio Help
ok, so recently ive started havin a slight buzz in all my record takes.... i work with that mxl 990 mic, a audio interface, and a mic chord..... i only say this cuz i know it has to be one of these things that is causing this...
now, i thought the little buzz (which is really hard to hear unless u mix the track without doing noise reduction) has considerably harmed the quality of my tracks, well atleast to me since im the engineer.... its like making every record take alot raspier wen im done mixing, which wasnt that big of an issue UNTIL i had a girl featured on a track to sing.... it makes her sound like she has a fuckin sore throat i was just wonderin if anyone has any suggestions to wat may be causing the buzz... perhaps even its some weird touching/crossing of wires in my mess of computer cords under the table... -One |
too many variables to pin point anything "quick". could be a lower recording resolution, could be an audio driver (since you're a windows user), could be your wires broken, could be that shitty ass mic finally took at shit, and that's just what came off the top of my head
|
^^didn't u say that the MXL 990 aint that bad of a mic? i remember i asked u about mics and u said that wasn't bad and was pretty clear for peeps wit deeper voices(rappers mostly)
|
^that was a long time ago son, a lot of mics came out since then. and the 990 is made for deeper voices but to say its a good mic, shit son.. its good for a sub $100 mic, but there's still mics whos prices came down into its territory that are way better than it for the money, like the co1. i wouldn't reccomend a 990 to anybody today. just the way shit is.
once upon a time a ford escort was a good car. |
for real i can feel it..im sellin my old set up for 220 i bought it for 300.....so i'm gettin' off good.....im gettin it this wed. on top of about 150 im gettin on tuesday....so i'll have about 370 dollars for studio equip. You should help me pic somthin out wit that pexx'
|
well what parts are you keeping?
|
i am sellin it all its just my mic mixer stand and pop filter
im not sellin the headphones so i'll take 20 off of that os i have 350 |
well you already seen what i been recommending people get man the sterling ST55. you already know the associated hardware you'll need, but that mic is it right now son.
|
whats so good about it? do you know any one who uses it and if so can i get a preview of the quality? like do u have links or somthin
|
what's good about it? its rich, its crystal clear, and the sound is warm and real, its not processed. do i know anyone that uses it? yes, i use it, well.. its a variant of the mic i use, it happens to sound identical and costs about $200 less. do i have links to it, no take your outcome into your own hands and look for it your self.
|
^^^ hah.... that would basically mean u got ur mic for free....
|
Man, none of that shit matters
buy a decent mic, then learn how to mix good. otherwise that, go to a studio |
u bought a...... groove tube? i was talkin to Apexx
and my mixin is fine..... this is just somethin that JUST started interfering... and i wanna try and make sure its not somethin trivial like the mic chord before i go out and buy a $200 mic, or new audio interface, instead of a $20 cord or w/e.... |

no, mic mic wasn't free, i got my mic on sale for $400 Quote:
yeah i bought a Groove Tubes. a GT55 FET. |
Condenser Mics produce self noise which can be picked up when recording low vocals, try having your girl sing louder to hide it.
