Should Imus be fired?

Don Imus, the syndicated radio personality...

A week or so ago, he made "racially charged" remarks about the Rutger's girl's basketball team. While on the air, Imus said of the mostly black team, "those are some nappy headed hos." Now, Jesse Jackson and Rev. Sharpton are calling for his resignation. And, Jesse Jackson will lead a picket outside of NBC's studios.

What do you all think?

well people say outlandish shit all the time. look at tim hardaway, and all he got was a slap and not able to go to allstar weekend, people still hate him, but its not that big. i think that imus should be fired, only because i think he is annoying. but this gives reason, jessy jackson will make that shit possible.

Aight....now, not defending him in any way, shape, form.....he was speaking in a joking manner. If it was a black man who said the same comment it would have been funny. He's issued all kinds of appologies, he agreed to be on Al Sharpton's show today or tommorow, he's planning on speaking with the women he offended personally. This is not a bad man. He's actually in the radio broadcaster's hall of fame. Should he be fired? I don't think so. Should he be stupid enough to make a comment even remotely the same? I don't think so either. Basically, he's showing remorse for his mistake and I think he's paying for it already.

LMAO @ what he said

If he would have said anything about them being black, then it's bad, but he was just fucking joking.

why do words hurt people? we are all one of them

Logic The Goonie 04-09-07 02:19 PM

Because when you judge someone because of what race they are, you hurt more than yourself.

Magic5 04-09-07 03:21 PM

The first time I heard that shit I started laughing my ass off, bruh.

Pure Knowledge 04-09-07 03:24 PM

Fired? Hell no. If anything, someone should make him a cake.

Well, at some point, people have to be held responsible for the things they say and do. When is it okay to make racially insensitive remarks as a person of influence? Imus reaches millions. And, that's the message he feels is appropriate to send out?

Hell nah

I dunno about fired...But, people have to realize you can't just go around sayin and doin what you want without repercussions.

no ones a person of influence unless you let them. do u really take his word just because he's on the radio? all that means is he took the proper courses in college and is qualified to speak on behalf of his affiliation according to his affiliation.

You also have the right to walk down the street, but you can't walk down the street and slap people legally.

And speech has never caused problems before?

"FIRE"...<--- speech that can cause serious problems if it's said at the wrong time.

Let's stop pretending words don't have power. They do. That's why we use them.
