Week 3

Chris Stylez (0-1) vs LE (0-1) vs. Exact (0-0)

Ok, this week, we have started a Champ and Contender match. Those of you who are not in the champ or contender match, prove yourselves worthy and work your way up. Remember, the prize is 100 dollars, and there are some other prizes as well. If you no-show, you will be booted, from now on that is the rule. Invite your friends as well, help expand our league. Don't leave all the work for the mods to do, we really need your help too! Well, good luck this week guys, keep up the tempo, and outwrite your opponent! This will be the only free verse week you got, so make it good!

(Free verse week, write what you want, any topic, just write.)

Good Luck!

Ten Thousand Men

Trumpets begin to shatter the hills with lust
Rain pounces upon stones, steel, and the dust
Thunder cracks, lighting blinks into air in silence
The wind crashes, branches bending in defiance
Ten thousand blades ring from ten thousand sheathes
Ten thousand feet marching through a million leaves
Ten thousand souls following only one man's lead
Ten thousand rejoice, or ten thousand will weep

Ten thousand men meet ten thousand men
Ten thousand as one, never seen again
Twenty thousand sound, twenty thousand cry
Ten thousand will die, ten thousand survive
Five thousand a side, ten thousand will clash
Five thousand more will be dead on their backs
Ten thousand souls following only one man's lead
Ten thousand rejoice, or ten thousand will weep

Twenty thousand there was, five thousand remain
A quarter host for each, and nothing will change
Trumpets still sound, the hills covered in red
How many fathers lay in them, how many dead?
Two and a half thousand now stand on for all
And still they slash on, every man will stand tall
Twenty thousand men, they all followed one...
...But ten thousand minus ten thousand still equals none...

I’m looking for –
over exaggerated puns
with warm handled guns,
I’m looking for waterlogged
clips and overused clits,

Well are you looking for fun?

Yes, sir – just a bit –

You came to the right place, you
know how those females get.

Well – actually I don’t, expand
on that topic – I’m looking for pineapple
drinks and cool breeze tropics –

Marvelous travels, females are absolutely
gorgeous – they’re a nice size and their
knockers are enormous! And about that
tropical drink suggestion – let me ask
you a question – when you say pineapple
drinks, how’s about a brewsky at the bar?
We’ll set you up with a real nice car,
reason with a capital R.

That sounds great, is this a timeshare opportunity?
Do I have the same rights as others,
or foreign immunity?

Well I can’t insure safety just that you make it
there safely, so if you’d just sign your name to
this paper I’d appreciate it greatly.

Alright sir, is there a rush Mr. Bailey?

Of course not, I didn’t mean to caress you
the wrong way, it’s just that I’ve been antsy to
get home, it’s been a long day..

I understand, would you happen to have a pen?

MeAnWhIlE Mr BaIlEy lOoKeD aS iF hE cOuLdN’t WaIt FoR tHe SeSsIoN tO eNd.

Yes, sure sir, sign here – and here and here,
sign at the red X – insurance if you
break your neck.

Just as Seymour Butts signed the contract
it looked as if Mr. Bailey just about had
a heart attack,
He shuffled the papers into a briefcase –
and quickly exited the door,
He’d rather take the stairs,
he was on the 12th floor,
Flashing blue and red –
aching his retinas and forming
pain in his head,
He was lost – but jogged
because he knew what
it would cost if they got him.
He shuffled to the right
of the entrance into
the parking garage –
he nearly dropped his briefcase
trying to give his temples a massage,
Just as Mr. Bailey reached
for the handle – hoping not to
trip the alarm,
It sacred him to death as a
bullet hit his arm,
“Don’t shoot!” he exclaimed
gingerly favoring the arm that was wounded,
He knew that he was caught, his plan
was ruined,
He had tried to sell a man
a timeshare to the ruins,
To play with the concrete monsters and
bruins,
As he yelled, don’t shoot,
the bullets riddled his body,
The police remained shooting
ever so calmly,
Just before he died the demons
had come for him,
He thought he could live low,
they would just ignore him,
His eyes caught a final glance of
what they could see,
The patch on the officers’
arms read Sin City PD.

Exact takes the win to me...he was more aggressive with his take on the topic...more creative read and was more wonderous with things in spite poetry vs. topical...here... nice shit guys and thanks for showing up....i was just more into EXACTS piece...it was more COMPLETE and ALL AROUND LE your verse was a nice read man i liked it but when i saw EX's verse and read it thoroughly i had my mind change decisions quickly cus he coered his piece with originality all over it!

Jonathon 04-28-07 12:14 AM

v/ Exact.

I really did read, but I am just making votes on the battles. I DID READ THE VERSES! I just don't want to leave feed, because it takes too long. But please understand that I do vote fairly and unbiased. PM me if you have a problem with this vote, I will straighten it out and just explain to you later why I voted for who I voted for.

V/ Exact

Your piece was more aggressive, more intriguing to read than L.E. I liked the introduction of the story, and when the events got wild, you changed the story to the right side of the post in bold. Creative... nice piece

L.E.:
Your piece was decent, but Exact just had the better piece this time. Yours was more poetic, his was more of a topical. Not saying theres anything wrong with being poetic, but if you are, you have to put work harder for the win. More emotion, more content, more complexed lines that makes the reader think. Good job tho
