The Road Less Traveled
 

Take me to the place you love,
So serene, like a scene from up above,
Steady hand and heavy heart,
Touched by gloom when I fell apart,
You were my solemn keeper,
But you forgot to lead me to the light.

Darkness falls as I take each shortened breathe
Ascending from hell’s fury, I’m facing death
You hear me weep, each hour of darkness alone
I’m facing a displacement, of eroded faith
Rising up to put me in my place, I feel disgraced
I hear echoes of voices whispering softly
Each one further demeaning the live I’ve chosen
Ice cold heart, matched with veins severely frozen
A chill wind has swept upon this town
Newspapers float upon the barren concrete
There’s no one left, my life is mine alone
Eerie silence speaks to me, as I tuck myself in
Only form of communication left is my pad and pen
I’m sad within; lord knows I could use his faith in me
Now I feel it’s too late, I only fall deeper to the pits
God seems to have given up, this is my mistake to fix
I inquire to myself, my last options appear to be few
Taking the road less traveled seems to be my chosen muse
Let me reverse my mistakes that brought me to my current state
Lord knows now, my malevolent plight was all a part of fate…

Following the masses is easy, but dissent is much harder
As I look to the sky, I catch a glimpse of my teacher; my father.
