Quality?
 

Do any of you know ways to improve your quality? (w/o buying a new mic, etc.)
I've heard someone say there are a few little things you can tweak on Audacity to improve your quality.

So if you guys know anything or have any suggestions please let me know.

Hey does anyone know if a mic for my karoake machine will work to record on my laptop. I know the cord input thing is too big...but I can get some sort of adapter to get a smaller one right?

I don't really know what the crap is called, so I might not be making any sense? But if you understand what I'm tryna say, holla back ha!

ok am i right in assuming your kareoke mic uses a 1/4 inch jack?

but are you recording through your pc's factory sound card or an audio interface?

Dammit so many questions... so few answers I actually know lol.

• Um, I'm gonna say it does... I'm not really sure. It's one of the bigger ones... Like bigger than what would fit in a typical computer.

• What little converter thang? Like what exactly is it called... a plug adapter?

• Factory sound card I guess? Idk... right now I record through plugging my headset/mic in the side plug-in on my laptop...

• Right now, I am recording with Mixcraft and Audacity. I lost everything when my laptop had to be completely reset.. so these are what I have right now.

well fella.....you do need real equipment.
For free I suggest Cool Edit 2.0 for software on a PC Base.
Mac Base- I use Garage Band and it works fine.

You need a Phantom Powered mic. Not that junky lookin thing u got up above me.
And with the mic.....your gonna need a amp to power it.

Or......you can go old school like i did and get decent quality.
Grab one of em ps2 mic's that u got with socom navy seal and plug it into ur labtop.
type ya lyrics on the screen an spit em thru the headset while u record.
its pretty effective cus the mic level stays the same when ur hands free and its attached to your head. It aint pretty.....but we dont get to see what u look like when u record ne ways.

I don't have that mic, I was showing Dark the size that the karoake mic I have is.
I've had Cool Edit, and I don't like it that much. Mixcraft works just as well in my opinion.

But I just need the info on what I need to make the mic I have fit for my laptop, because if I don't have to spend the money to get a new one then I definitely won't lol. What I use now gives me somewhat decent quality, but I'd like to upgrade at least a little bit, and I'll be happy.

No I said this doesn't have to do with the program I am using, I need a new mic and I am asking what the hell the thing is called that I need so the mic I have will fit into my laptop, and if I use the new mic and see no quality improvement, then I am going to go buy a new one.
