sauna a good place to recored?

or would it echo too much without soundproofing stuff?

J.Roy 07-12-08 05:24 AM

I really don't think that would be the best place to record. To many sounds you wouldn't hear inflicting your sound.

Well that's exactly it. No one should ever sleep on hip hop.

Microphones can fuck up in any strange conditioned environment.

Which is why his sauna better be almost full percent dry of all fumes and moist air before he sets electronic equipment up in it.

Well the ceramic wall tilings in bathrooms tend to create good acoustics. A sauna has wooden planks for walls. It's not really the same thing.

First off make sure there is no moisture at all, otherwise you might aswell throw all your gear in a pool, from the top of a tower, thats on top of a cliff.

You can use any room you want, just pad the walls, blankets can even be better than nothing, get thick wool blankets and nail them to the wall, this will stop any reflections from noise creating natural reverb and unwanted doubled octaves.

It might also pay to position you rmic in the corner, pad the corner with a fuck load of thick blankets, then drap one across the corner, creating a ghetto booth. It will work though, I used to do it and it created a 'dead' space for your mic to pick up your vocals as natural as possible.

Ill try find a pic of my old booth.

yeah, the sauna hasn't been turned on i months so its real dry and everything. yeah a pic may give me a better idea.

Just nail blankets to the wall. Then one across the corner, its not proffesional or anything, but it will do a lot more for your sound rather than wood walls.
