he more than likely means the actually title of Fundamental Christian, not from some other religious standpoint, fundamentalist christian is the name givin to like evangelist and stuff.

my guess is that you didn't know that even if I was, for some strange reason that my words were in your interpreted context, talking about Christianity as a whole being widely practiced in the described fundamental manner, I'd probably still be hitting the nail on the head because the -majority- of christians are fundamentalists.

The way you wrote it made it seem like you thought he was looking at a sect of Christianity and because of his beliefs determining something fundamental about that part because his belief saw it as so.
