Fought for independence, a way to stand out.
Be the only one in my light, quiet so I don’t have to shout.
Before you send me to my jury, listen to what I’m about.
I’ve battled to be my own man for years trying to carve this route.
I’ve trudged down roads, barefoot, head low.
Soul begging to escape, but I never let go.
Promised I’d find a better way, and have yet to do so.
Physically weeping, arms hang like a willow.
Put my head to my pillow and at night I lie awake.
Looking for any type of memorial on my journey, to hold as a keepsake.
Never act fake, distant myself from what you expect.
Never march behind another, or do what’s next.
Do what actions come to me, not what you might direct.
Connect on my level and see that things aren’t parallel.
Its like everyone I know rides on circles like a caracell.
And just like on the animals, everyone needs a ride.
I’d rather walk off it than ever step foot inside…
