What is a bar?
 

I hear all of the tim, "Jay-z flows for 8 bars..." and what not. 50 Cent did a song called "50 bars" and Allen Iverson, "40 bars"...I just wanted to know what a bar was...?

8 Bars= 16 Lines.................... Like if some1 says spit 2 bars , thats equal too 4 Lines , just Multiply tha amount of bars by 2 .................... 50 bars= 100 Lines , 40 Bars= 80 Lines

A bar is 4 beats per measure, it's almost like every four seconds is a bar (if you tap your pencil four times that a bar), the faster the beats the faster the seconds/taps. They are counted without taps like "1-1-2-2-3-3-4 that's one, 2-1-2-2-3-3-4 that's two". That's the best text explanation I can give you of what a real bar is.

/ya an audio bar and a text bar are two diffeerent things but since audio is more important that defeintion is mroe valid...

Music is broken down into bars. The normal count is 1 2 3 4, quarter notes, speed it up and its 1 & 2 & 3 & 4, eighth notes.

Some of you are right, and some of you are idiots. A bar is 2 lines. Anyone who has any musical knowledge knows this. When a beat is produced ever 4 snares is 1 bar. Blah, Im not gonna waste the time explaining this.

But the answer to your question is a bar is 2 lines.



A standard verse is 16 lines (8 bars).
And 16 + 16 is 32 (not 36) by the way.
