....in court..... A 70-year-old Los Angeles woman is suing Eminem and Dr. Dre for unlawfully sampling music from her late husband. The song in question is Em’s 1999 hit "Guilty Conscience" from his first hit album, "The Slim Shady LP."

Harlene Stein says "Guilty Conscience" features snippets from a 24-second piece called "Pigs Go Home" that her husband Ronald scored for the 1970 film "Getting Straight." Stein has also included several other parties in the lawsuit; Eight Mile Style Music, Ain't Nuthin' Goin' on But Funkin', Ensign Music Corporation, WB Music Corporation, Famous Music Corporation, Colgems-EMI Music Publishing Inc., and Interscope Records.

Some may be quick to note that The liner notes for The Slim Shady LP state that "Guilty Conscience" features an interpolation of "Go Home Pigs." The problem is that Stein was never credited as the song's composer, and his wife ever paid royalties for the sampling.
Stein died in 1988 and his wife inherited his estate. She has not specified the damages she is seeking, but her attorney say it could be well over $3 million.

This is old, and I hope she wins.

"Kill You" beat was also reported to be 'bite' from a french artist.

anyway, to be honest $3 million isn't exactly gonna be alot of money to Em and Dre, now they are mult-millionairs (ems got a reported $150m in the bank)...

Also, take into consideration how long it takes for these filings for law suits to actually come to court to be settled.

I'm sure it doesn't take four years, but it can take a year, or even two, for shit to get processed and trial ready to begin.

So it could very well be that she filed this lawsuit back in 2001, or 2002.


But I'm also sure that she didn't hear the song until now because one of her grandkids just got into Eminem or something.

I believe it's motherfuckers out there that get hired to buy music peeps music and research and breakdown those beats and to figure out what sample and who they got that beat from...find the owners relative and make deals for money!!!
