"Little Doggy"

How do you learn to walk again, Little Doggy,
When your last master left your legs bruised?
How do you learn not to cower at one's hand,
When your last master let you be abused?

How do you learn to let another hold you,
When the last hands you were in let you fall?
All your loyal affection, only led to rejection,
How can you ever come again when you're called?

And How can you learn to trust again, Little Doggy,
when your last master left you neglected?
When you'd cry at the door, only to be ignored,
How can that painful past go unreflected?

How do you learn to depend on someone,
When the last gave you nothing you need?
And despite his pretenses, he kept you in fences,
How'd you learn once again to be free?

How did you learn to forgive, Little Doggy?
Though mistreated, you still remain tame..
How can you ever accept someone else?
How do you know he won't hurt you the same?

How do you still remain man's best friend,
Little Doggy, How does your heart mend?..
How do you get that shine back in your eyes,
How do you learn to love again........

This was very nicely written. With a subtle intensity. It did seem more than just the cover topic. Of a dog that has been mistreated.

Seemed like a metaphor for a man/woman (most probably a woman) who has been abused by her father/mother. Yet learns to love and trust again. With a lover. And it's like you're asking in a scalded and hurt way.."how can you do that?.."...

Or it could be a woman who having been abused and mistreated as a child. Carries on being so by her 'lover'....and she carries on taking it. She just lies down and takes it.

...very nice, gege.

Something different from you Gege..simple but good

Female Dog - Bitch
Male Dog - I Dont Know...Asshole Maybe
Mans Best Friend Arent Diamonds..
Females Best Friends Are Diamonds..

but off of that..to me this relates to animals somewhat
but moreso a male and female relationship...or same sex...
either way I though it was about opening up to a new owner
or new special someone in your life after things went wrong
with the prior relationship....thats what I had got from reading

all I can say is you better do a cd if you havent already

Aight,

good poem...you using a metaphorical poem? ionno but i can understand tha animal part. i understand this i can take it beyond tha dog, i dont kno if this is talkin bout A female going back into a abusive relationship, or a dog, or whut. I feel alot of mistrust and pain thru this one.

Great tho.

Yes this piece is definately symbolic. I love animals but I didnt write the piece just about a dog. It goes a lot deeper than that, and you all hit it right on the head.

Thanks for the reps.
Much appreciated.

OOOh lord..lol

SICK Shit ma...

Fuck. Fuck you all. Fucking shit. Fucking ass ball shit stick fucking ball shit fuck.

Um... pardon my French. Je ne parle pas français, mais pardonner il quand même.

I'm just upset because everyone else had to blah blah blah about the whole metaphorical dealy do da with the dog being an actual human in an abusive relationship. I wanted to be the first one to point it out. But nnooooo everyone else has to sound uber smart. You're all show-offs, y'know that? Nevermind the fact that showing off my comprehension of metaphorical poetry is actually exactly what I wanted to do so this whole humorous temper tantrum in of itself is futiefully hypocratical.

Anyway... Gyrl... it's always a pleasure to read your work. You don't need me to inflate your solid ego of awesometivityness. (That's the third time I've fucked up the English language in one post.)

And if it helps, dogs can with a lot of help, can learn to open up with their new owners after being abused for so long. Some tend to go psycho and need to be put down but... uh... ignore that.

hm

to me this was one big metaphor....

gege i didnt particular care for this...........i dunno waht it was maybe the structure........maybe the word DOGGY.... i think perhaps puppy woulda been better...it jsut through a uneccasary CHILDISH vibe to it with the word doggy......... i mean damn this is hard to explain your overall topic and meaning was good but when i read it i got distracted from the true meaning of the peice

about learnign to love n trust again is something that i dont relate with teh word doggy....damn i cant explain myself

but gege you kno your work is good and i jsut wish i could explain what i mean

hazy

hazy be crazy* the doggy represents the person
who has been hurt through thick and thin and is
being cautious about taking on a new special
somebody / owner in her life...I think.....

this may unconfuse you hazy

Gege this wasnt bad at all...just different from you...its good

DaGyrlRemarqabL 09-29-03 03:48 PM

LoL...yes it was different from me..
I suppose it was somewhat intended to have a "childish theme", the speaker was trying to learn....But the reader is supposed to be taking much more out of the piece..
Anyway I just wrote it cuz of something I was going thru, I wanted an interesting, NEW way to get a message across, rather than coming right out and sobbing about it.
And as the far as the word "doggy" goes..Its what I usually call the person who insipired this piece..a nickname if you will..so it too, has a hidden meaning.

Thanks for the reps everyone.

HazY.B 09-29-03 04:45 PM

and that would explain why it didnt seem right to me.thanks for clearing it up gege and also another slight problem the ending
seems so strong and it makes me wonder if that something that your going through is still an open wound?

^interesting could be about a failed relationship, or a bad childhood, hard to tell......what i like is that the words of the piece are simple and childish and the theme is complex and VERY adult..
i like necro wanted to be the first to point out the underlying meaning but i guess a good writer makes their point clear to everyone...........one of the best things about you work is the emotion behind every word every syllable.......makes me FEEL i dunno......maybe i'm getting soft in my "old" age:rolleyes: .......although i think it has more to do with your talent........please keep blessing us.........

respect....
