question for mind theory and alcatraks and anybody else experienced

alright yo i just started messing around making beats and shit
i have fruity loops and i use that to make some tight bass lines and shit witch is pretty easy...but i cant make any melodies like i just dont know how they always sound like dirt shit...so ill usually get a song of somesort and like sample from that...but i want to like make my own shit and since mind theory is all sprung on that shit i reckon he could tell me something oh yeah i also have cool edit and find it completly useless except for like reducing hiss and thats about it holla at me...either in this thread or PM me...does anybody have msn messenger that way i could add them...
peace

man nobody can tell you exactly how to make a melody.

it will take a while and lots of working.

in the meantime i reccomend picking up a book on musical theory, if you really want to compose your own music having even the smallest knowledge in music theory is fucking essential.

peace

and mind theory samples HEAVILLY...doesnt compose...lol

so i dunno what u are talkin about how he all into that..lol

composing is hard as fuck. and your not gonna be able to do it with a simple single note sample unless its a C note...if not its gonna sound out of tune once you start changing the notes.

um...

no other suggestions except learn some chords

yea u need to learn some music theory and understand how composing works. no one here can just tell you how to do this.

^whats the frequency of each note on the chromatic scale between c4 and c5

.pz.

AlcaTrakz 10-27-03 08:23 PM

440 hz being c4

INsanity 10-27-03 08:56 PM

lol ^ 440hz is A4, besides, are do u really wanna know or are u just tryna male me look stupid cuz i said i know all the shit lol. Also the frequencies have nuttin to do wit theory but if u want the chart i'll give it to u lol

starting on C4:

C#-261.63(Hz)
D-293.66
D#-311.13
E-329.63
F-349.23
F#-369.99
G-392.00
G#-415.30
A-440.00
A#-466.16
B-493.88
C5-523.25

of course i looked that up lol, but unless u work in some high tech studio or something there is no real need to remember this. lol
nice try man ^^

...OpeY... 10-27-03 09:29 PM

Ok if C4 had a pitch of 440Hz, which makes no sense, the approximate frequencies would be the following:

C4 - 440 Hz
C# - 466.16 Hz
D - 493.88 Hz
D# - 523.25 Hz
E - 554.37 Hz
F - 587.33 Hz
F# - 622.25 Hz
G - 659.26 Hz
G# - 698.46 Hz
A - 739.99 Hz
A# - 783.99 Hz
B - 830.61 Hz
C5 - 880 Hz
