What Are The Sucessful Elements Of A Topical Verse

I thought that imagery and story was a huge part...apparently not..so enlighten me...

deacon 11-06-03 03:55 PM

originality in my book kills anything..but definitly the depth as well..imagery is always good so the reader can depict the story better...and story goes along the lines of originality...some people aren't original no matter how hard they try...takes an autistic mind to really capture insanity in a piece...

that explains my understanding a bit better...but there have got to be other elements according to the things I have seen gone down...

I say, that imagery and originality are important, but without the delivery and the right expansion of words, it wont be good.

So what about those cats who rely on a dictionary/thesauras to get there words..than it's not original than they do something to try to make themselves feel good..

dont use a thesausas, a gud way to expand is use slang sometimes. or subsitute words for words, making it seem like your telling the story from your view.

whitelightning 11-06-03 04:16 PM

Exactly..people don't fuckin do that do..they use cheater methodz..

imagery...originality....flips in the story...and word play all crucial parts to a topical ...in some pieces maybe not word play so much but it all helps to make a dope piece

Lethargic 11-07-03 12:22 PM

<---got a 29 on his ACT's....uses the big words and doesn't have to look them up! Only when I'm arguing/debating though. Who the fuck wants to talk like that all the time?

Sorry, forgot to reply to the topic. Imagery...orginality....a fresh concept on the topic. One that isn't predictable. Something no one else could think of.

It needs to flow, have internals and multi's, portray the topic using imagery and emotion, have a good writers voice and word choice placed behind it.

Originality
Creativity
A story line

Let your imagination run....Lord knows I have and can hardly keep up with it.
