- one life to live -
- one voice to hear -
- one like i wish -
- one choice is clear -

9:00 am
Sid: Calda, if you wanna prove your friendship n' be a real man (hands him a revolver) .. meet me tonight at 10
Calda: (looks at the gun) A real man, hmm..

9:30 am
Becky: Calda, I'm leaving town at 10 'clock tonight, and i want you to come with me (Kisses him n' runs off)
Calda: (puts his fingers over his lips) My love, hmm..

LIFE OF A CRIMINAL
A hostile child, styled in blue bandanas
Walked for the mile, awhile til' he stand up
Never wait to intake, n' made the sides-hate
Was only a number, next to the crime-rate
Never needed credit, stole what he wanted
Never left regreted, For those that he taunted
Life in a barrel, A trigger never loved
Life of a thug, n' wanted none of the above
Took Sid's invitation, met him at Ten
Killed a few men, but never awoke again

LIFE IN LOVE
Lifestyle still present, inevitable reprieved
Freshness of his breath, profound in his beliefs
She respected his gangsta, but never enjoyed it
And all the bickering, finally annoyed him
So he stopped the crime, man of chivalries
Hate n' misery brought righteous deliveries
People were envious, but he didn't mind the count
A thug lived man.. finally turned inside out
Took Becky's invitation, met her at Ten
They left the state, n' never seen again

ONE LIFE TO LIVE, WHICH ONE WILL YOU LIVE BY?
One way to go, but two roads to take
Think of this as your life, which life will you make?

- one life to live -
- one voice to hear -
- one like i wish -
- one choice isnt so clear -

Everything that I do for Pat must be refined
it seems unfair I have just one, when my cat has nine
laying on the mat was fine, because the tide washed over
cleansing me of falcities; leprachuans with squashed clovers
seem to rub shoulders with the people of my dreams
a seperate universe where the steeple is as it seems
unclean, and covered in a film reserved for Disney flicks
So I continue to be Pyramus to these Thisby chicks
taking his free Vicks to soothe my throats incessant ranting
the garden overgrows the yard, I'm a result of poor planting
Trying to give a hundred and 10% when all I possess is fifty
Forgot to get this place cleaned, but they say the mess is thrifty
are you still with me? Because this can really get confusing
you're just abusing, the brand of deodorant you're using
on our skin, to begin the day in the life we all must live in
and performed incorrectly, it will definitely fail to connect me
I hope you try to resurrect me before they try to disect me
and my essence, this presense represents exactly how you feel
yes, it may be only one life, but how much of it all is real?

bah, sloppy format.
sorry it's late.

i'd hafta say this was deff. a close 1...
really hard to chose...both of the flows were equal i think...
both packed some nice imagry into the piece
both hit the topic creativly...

but i hafta go wit calda... i was just feelin the story more...
i liked how you put it...it was good enuf fo the win

vote-calda

I'm not saying I know alot about open mics
but Caldas hit me harder. Seemed Maven was
a little bit too simple and stretching for comparisons.
The cat his nine line was out of nowhere, seemed off
topic... and a few other things I was wondering where
it came from. Overal a nice piece though. From both. I
thought Calda's was dope, real dope innovation with
the presentation of his topic. Had he got a little more
into detail and made his piece longer it could've been
something legendary. Great drop.

vote - calda

Walter Wall 12-04-03 03:00 PM

Both came nice
good imagery and flow from both
maven had a lot of good lines
that didn't really connect
I picked up that he was trying that effect by saying 'how much is real'
which was a dope concept that made you look back at the end
but it just didnt hit me as hard as calda's did
his flow his simple and easy to follow his rhymes were elevated
overall, he told a compelling story in the best way possible and really wrapped me up in it
by asking what would I do
and the setting and times gave it a sense of urgency
dope pieces from both, but

Vote - Calda

Tribz 12-04-03 03:47 PM

Why? His story was dope, and his verse really caught me, Mavens was nice as well. Bars seemed a little stretched and shit but the flow was there and everything. Calda just came out better and grabbed me.

Maven 12-07-03 01:33 PM

caldizzle my nizzle kicked my ass fo shizzle.
