Getting high: Raps form of Steroids
 

I just wanna hear ya'll opinions on the topic, does the hip hop culture see getting high as:
1) a way of enhancing der rapping abilities
or
2) part of their culture
or
3) anything else you can come up with

Yeah, drugs, especially steroids, has nothing to do with rap music.

Especially when you realize there are guys out there like 50 Cent, being idolized by little girls everywhere who is directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people when he sold cocaine.

Now I don't know about you, but amassing as many deaths as he did, don't you think we should fight back? I mean, we're fighting against Sadam Hussein, and he's clocked up just as many deaths...

i guess people may smoke weed or do drug to "relax" themselve while recording......look at o.d.b lmao not everyone likes him but he gets props for even being able to do some songs on angel dust

gettin high, can be used as a form of being relaxed in rap,
it could be part of their culture, depending, where, ad who they were raised with,
and some rappers might just do it because they wanna fit in with the group they are with at the time!!

man......... weed makes you think more...........it's a form of expanding your mind............it's not cheating or ne thing like that............it relaxes you and makes you more open minded...............regardless if it's part'a'ya culture.........

I think overall weed is a part of hip hop culture in general I mean look at how big cypress hill blew up with songs all about weed. Plus almost every rapper out there has at least one song dedicated to the herb. So weed obviously has a powerful influence over alot of hip hop heads.


also the dude sayin 50's cocaine sales directly contributed to 100's of deaths?? its not like he was some king pin shipping the shit in from colombia his sales may have contributed directly ta 2-3 deaths but definately not 100's. Also thats like saying the person who sales the gun is responsible for the murder/suicide. Drug related deaths lay solely in the hands of the user.

Weed doesn't work for everybody like that.

I don't smoke, and for good reason. I become a blob, I don't do anything, I basically sit there and let dust settle on me. I can't do anything. Everybody has a different reaction to different things, I suppose me being A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. and the medication I'm on for that could have something to do with it (even though many people who I know who have A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. don't go through what I go through when on weed).

Lets look at the last time I did weed, it was almost a year ago actually. I took like 3 or 4 full tokes from a bong (I think it was like 2 bowls total, kind of larger bowls by the way). I ended up blanking out. Like 15 minutes after I smoked I started seeing black basically. Imagine your field of vision being cut off, everything became far away, it was like I was looking through a tunnel, me at one end, at the other end 50 feet away was everything else, and it was completely black for that (imaginary) 50 feet. I sat down, luckily lol, and honest to god I couldn't move after I sat down. My head basically hit the table, and I just stopped moving. My heart slowed down (so someone told me who took my pulse, he didn't smoke by the way lol). It lasted like that for over an hour.
I later found out it wasn't normal weed. It was medicinal (government grown), anyone who gets actual medicinal weed usually says its incredibly strong. Also, the guy that brought it doesn't just do weed, so...there's a pretty good chance it wasn't "just" weed.

The experience was a cool experience, but not my ideal choice of fun. I'm fucked up enough as is, I don't need the help of weed.
So no, I don't do weed, or any drugs for that matter (other than the prescription medication for my A.D.D and A.D.H.D.)

it does kind of go hand in hand with some industry artists though...probably use it to level out their mind and shit.......i'm sure it gets stressful enough........it's all up to personal opinion..........

I'm quittin this New Year, I've already cut down to only smokin every couple days (I used to blaze 5+ times a day, no joke)

weed is a great thing when used in moderation, when it becomes a large part of your daily routine you need to analyze your decisions.

I agree with Tech it does leave you more open minded, tha hippies used to smoke back in the day so its kinda evolved from them in a way, folks smoke it wetha they like rap or not so its a choice left 2 a person if they wana smoke shit or not

Also smoking leaves you open minded and shit, but thats just the positive side about it, right? Nobody looks at what smoking does, like slowing down your senses, near death expieriences(Bruklor), and other shit. You guys want to risk all that other bullshit, to be more open minded. Basically, thats where belief in hyuman flaw comes, you people don't think there is no other way to be open minded. Instead you should try to make it in your personality to be more open minded. And you won't get nasty side effects.

I dont smoke to be more open minded, just smoke to have a good time when i go out, it relaxes me, makes me enjoy whatever im doing. I grew up around it really, whole family smokes it, my mates mum dont mind us smokin in his house, my girls family sell it, worst ive ever been of it was about 2 years ago when i was 14,i got some of someone i didnt know (somethin you shouldnt do!) what ever was in it i only had 1 spliff and i was fucked, feelin hold and cold, sweatin like a pig, started seein colours flying around my head, i was out of it for about 2 hours.

anyway each to his own. if you wanna smoke weed do it, if you dont then dont smoke it, simple as that.
