if you rap crystal clear, at the right distance to the mic, with no background sounds interference, and have the proper programs/knowledge to master the vocal track....then yes u can use a pencil mic n people might not be able to tell.
but all u need to start producin shit decent enough for the net is a 20-30 dollar mic n a pop filter. everything else u can do wit software, which can be found on the net for free. even if all you do in your audio career is drop 10 tracks, spending the 2-3 bucks a track is worth it.
one step u young mc's might want to consider is emptying out a closet, or part of a closet, to use as your recordin booth. maybe this sounds stupid but most newbie mc's don't spit wit energy cus they r afraid people will hear them yellin n cussin in their rooms and start callin psychiatrists.
considerin how many texties there r on this site I agree wit Postman that there should be more text - audio conversion cus if u think u get a rush from dropin text lines, listin to your own music while walkin through ur hood is like your text rush x 10.
if u need beats click the 21st avenue productionz link below. allmost all of these can be leased for free. just let me know which one ur workin wit n mention my name when ya post the track.
