It really comes down to human nature. Integration. Not wanting to be on the 'outside'. If one was to make 'seperate' laws in place of marriage for homosexuals. They'd still feel left out. Not fully part of society.
That's their core persepctive. Along with the whole legal issues of inheritance, benefits etc.
Though of course one does appreciate the other side's view. Of it breaking the sancity of marriage. In a sense, bastardising it. It's human nature to feel threatened by such things. Especially when that side see's the whole 'homosexual' thing as so 'unnatural' and even 'illogical'. Along with the centuries of stigma attached to marriage. Of it being a natural part of hetrosexual relationships and therefore re-productioun. Normality.
I think it's more a matter of 'Is society ready to accept such things for their children to grow up around...especially in this current climate..
On a seperate note. I caught a remark whilst skim reading. And i agree, the left wing does seem to struggle to 'find the target'. To be incisive. Instead shooting off at all directions.
But why? Maybe the right wing is suffocating it? Becoming so strong that the left becomes ever more desperate?
Though the dust is settling.
