the calender europe was using since roman times lost 1 day every 148 years, since ceasers time. so it's slightly off. but then they changed it to the gregorian calender, the one we use today. it's more accurate cos we lose one day every 3300 years. (not sure what, cos i can't remeber exactly). eithere way that's out us off by a bit. as for the mayan calender, it uses three counting methods simultaneosly, counts some numbers in base 18 and some in base 20. some crazy complicated stuff. found this link about it...
