I once was innocent, unexposed to the harsh reality of life
Unaware of my surroundings, still free from pain and strife
Careless, carefree, a child at the very golden age of innocence
Unable to see things beyond rationality, made the difference
Until the real world slowly infiltrated my every thought pattern
Realized being sheltered was overrated, the world's what i sought after
Interaction with others, the hustle and bustle of everyday drones
But i reprogrammed my conditioning so as not to become a clone
I asked all the questions, prepared for death for curiosity killed the cat
under the impression there's more to see then what i'm looking at
The more knowledge i captured the more i had to quench my thirst
Pursuit for answers was the best idea and paradoxed as the worst
For when i was unaware, my mind was free of poison and pollution
But to maintain as naive was much more of a problem then solution
There's only so much a child's eyes can perceive or begin to comprehend
Absolutely no point in deceiving myself, life's not something to pretend
Now I can finally see everything, no holding back or being blinded
I once was somewhat secluded but now am no longer narrow-minded
