Rap and Poetry-Its a Difference

I was just reading a open mic and noticing how much good feedback it was getting, like "dope flows, nice lyrics" and so on, then i realized that that was not rap, that was poetry, half the so-called "Conscience" ppl on this site are not really rappin there jus doin poetry and theres a big difference, the shit is nice and all but it aint rap, jus realize that and im not sayin dis to say that it can only be rap by talkin bout guns ans stuff, peace
