A brand new day begins as the sun begins to riseThe rays, break through, and land upon my eyes
Eyes wide shut; I softly smile, smelling the coffee brew
I slide out of bed, looking outside, grass glistens with dew
Hearing the crackle of bacon, I sit with my glass of milk
After eating, I shower, where the water falls as soft as silk
Spring flowers in full bloom, as the sun presses heat upon my face
As I stroll lazily to school, enter the classroom and take my place

On my desk lies a sheet of paper, with a question written down
In thick black, it states “Why am I here,” and I start to look around
The pens simultaneously scratch at the paper below
I place the tip of my pen to the paper, but I do not know
I stare blankly into space, thinking…Why am I here?
I try and clear my mind, but any thoughts disappear
What have I accomplished so far? I think in my head
And nothing is comes and I've got nothing planned ahead
I don’t hold a special place in the heart of someone
I’m no quarterback turning pro, when school is done
The bell rings, and I hand in my paper with three words written down
I’ve etched “I Don’t Know” lightly and leave the class carrying a frown
