Kordo, please don't be racist. White people are not the only ones who do this ish, I know plenty of black guys who act gangster in a town of less than 10,000 people. I mean, at high traffic this town is like Detroit at 11 PM. I think the essence of hip hop has become so distorted, that people, in general, do not understand it.
If people don't understand it, then they automatically assume that it is wrong, corrupt, or retarded since they don't understand it. Few people ACTUALLY make an attempt to try and understand something different. If you are hip hop, then you enjoy rap music, but don't listen to only rap. You enjoy breakdancing, graffiti, or rapping to express yourself.
Hip hop is one of those things you have to be to really understand it because it cannot be put into words. I think Eminem came close in Sing for the Moment though,
"Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe. We're nothin' to you but we're the fuckin' shit in they eyes/
that's why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it, cuz we consider these minutes golden/
and maybe they'll admit it when we're gone. Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our songs/"
^^That is pretty close. Hip hop is being able to sit, move with the beat, and not think about anything. To be able to just go into another world by a single beat.
