Well Mim, some people just feel safe thinking that some spiritual being will always be there to protect them. I just don't see why Christianity's such a fear campaign though - "If you don't ask for forgiveness you won't get in to Heaven! So in order to have a good afterlife you 100% must beg God to cleanse you!"
It's baffling to me.
