Is there anything certain about race relations in America today? Whites and blacks disagree about how far we’ve come and how far we have to go. Some whites believe that we have completely eliminated segregation. While my friend father says, “anyone that’s making such a claim doesn’t know what it is like to be a black man in America.” In my high school years, my teachers never taught me about the significant of the Niagara Movement, NAACP and the civil right movement that pushed for equal rights. Nevertheless for more than a hundred years an important black leader such as W.E.B Dubois has been praised in American history books for his efforts in the struggle for the political advancement of Black Americans.
