Ranking reflects crime
SB is 16 on list, beats Compton

Monday, November 22, 2004 - SAN BERNARDINO - A list released Monday has placed San Bernardino among the top 25 dangerous cities in the nation.

The city ranked No. 16 above Compton, ranked 17, and below Tampa, Fla., ranked 15. Morgan Quitno Press, a private research and publishing company based in Lawrence, Kan., released the list that it will publish in a reference book titled "City Crime Rankings.'

The company examined six basic crime categories in creating its rankings: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft. All cities with a population of more than 75,000 that reported those types of crimes to the FBI in 2003 were included.
