Just a Thought.. I think it would be easier to Get Signed in Canada, Or To Develop your Own Label and Get your Name out there easier in Canada then the states , Simply for the fact there is Not as much Competition..

But One Down Side of getting signed in Canada, Would be that the Labels in Cananda dont have the Reach Globally like the States.. I'm Guessing thats why alot of artists here are not that well Known...
