yea, you can try using the "extract" filter but there are someo ther ways aswell...

make sure when your using photoshop, that you make a new layer, and put it underneath the picture your going to cut out, that way you can put a backround in...

you can use the eraser tool, which is basic and easy to use...although your cut wont be as good as if you used the lasso tools (those take time to get good at though)

so yea try and mess around with a few of those
you can use backround eraser if its somewhat of a solid color backround such as a wall behind the picture your going to cut out, thatll be easy...
