Not So Typical
IP:
One day a son wonders why, putting up a front under lies
constantly trying to realize, how or when he's trying to try
A failure from the day of birth... is that the way of earth?
His mom is disappointed.. Is what she says that hurts?
Or does he realize the truth, thinking he got nothing to lose
The son took granted of life, and he had everything to use
His whole life was spoiled, sounds like a story without moral?
His parents had hid his feelings, buried love with the sorrow
Then along came day, the Son had heard about his Dads cancer
Ephiphany struck him hard, and it became this boys answer
But.. he was still a half ass in school, always acting a fool
He was like a construction worker, but was lacking the tool
His Dad had survived with half a lung, a miracles best stunt
Seemed he survived an eternity.. when he was left 6 months..
Emotionally the Son was back to normal, but he had no muscle
a weak boy at that, still putting himself into so much trouble
Car accidents without insurance, doing horrible in school..
Smoking ciggarettes, then mixed with drugs and alcohol too
Out of all that only ONE achievement in all those four years..
His graudation was all so different from all his mothers tears
The Son... now hes still a character, still unmotivated in life
Then reality struck him again, with some complications and strife
Finally it got to him... his Dad, 65, had cancer again..
His mom was really sick too.. he seemed this cycle didnt end
Dad prayed "Give me five more years, please please.. try...
So I can watch my boy finish school.. and I'll be satisified.."
The son finally realized his failures in life.. had nothin to show
Buried his past in the dirt, and finally had a future to grow
But he came to wonder.. why did he ever do any of this..
he had caused more pain to his parents than disease ever did
"why didn't I make my parents proud? Why cant I be number one?"
Cause all his life, he always did want to be the better son
He fucked up, but he's gonna try now.. even if it is too late
I bring you this story, because a few of you can relate
This story may be sad, but hey.. to some it can be very true..
I know the son.. and hopefully.. it would never have to be you.
