Jay-Z Backs Kanye's Comments on Bush
IP:
A few days after Kanye West trashed President George W. Bush's relief efforts to Hurricane Katrina, Jay-Z declared that he stands behind the producer's inflammatory comments.
"I'm backing Kanye 100%," Jay-Z told Billboard regarding West's comments that "George Bush doesn't care about black people" during a live Hurricane Katrina relief telethon this past Friday.
The super producer also expressed that the country was set up "to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible." Hov also said he thinks the government has offered a tardy response since the hurricane hit southern states like Louisiana and Mississippi.
"This is America. You should be able to say what you want to say. We have freedom of speech," Jay-Z told Billboard. "It's really numbing. You can't believe it's happening in America. You wonder, what's going on? Why were people so slow to react? I don't understand it."
Hov also said he wants to chat with Diddy about launching a foundation that would benefit African Americans when a crisis hits.
"Just in case anything like this happens in the future, we can do what the elder Bush and [former President Bill] Clinton are doing for our people specifically," Hov revealed in reference to the potential fund.
