Dear Grace,

I watch you sleeping, you smile gently at me and I softly weep
Clutching your hand, I want to stay here all day, work can keep
Pondering at why you did this, I can’t think, lights above flicker
Doctors saying you got weeks but it seems times going quicker
Its only me left here with you, your father abandoned his duty
Had another life somewhere, but I couldn’t leave such a beauty
Reminiscing about “those sweaters” the way you used to pretend
That you were of an average size, but food you couldn’t befriend
Why couldn’t you have discussed it with me? I was always there
Why didn’t you share your secrets? Grace you know I really care

Dear my beautiful daughter

Grace, its daddy, I want to say that I’m so sorry about departing
But I had a new life to live and it was this I had to get to starting
I was so unaware of the fact that you were causing yourself hurt
by seeing what others were doing, you too had become a convert
My daughter I could have protected you more, young and naïve
We always told you, you’re beautiful, but that you didn’t believe
Coming to your final hours, I’m wishing that for longer you’d last
And hope I get to give you this personally, before you’ve passed

Sleep tight, my gracious child, let god take you in an embrace
Now that you’re at his place, nothing will fall from you grace
