DA's usually wont prosecute for a fight in the first place...
theyll prosecute if you jump someone...or just beat the shit out of someone when theyre already on the ground...but cops usually wont press charges for a regular fight unless someone REALLY makes a fuss about it...the worst that usually happens if someone calls them is they hold both of you overnight and release you on your own recognizances...
but if something were to happen you could say "i felt that he was going to cause me bodily harm and i used the amount of physical force neccesary to keep him from doing that"...and as long as there are no witnesses that say you were beating the shit out of him when he was already on the ground...theres really nothing they can do...
