U.K. rap is fresh and resembles old school rap, their styles, beat choices, it's reminiscent of how "Hip Hop" was, not just weak ass bass rap which was lyrically deeper, not ALWAYS meaning bigger vocab, but topics that speak to something besides you wanting to shake your ass...U.K. rappers are a lot more socially conscious and they can do what they want and be a lot more creative because they don't have that major pressure of "sell sell sell" like the U.S. has because they're industry isn't as big and people aren't putting the kind of money into rap over there that people are over here...
people invest more TIME than MONEY into rap in other countries...there people do it because they love it, here it's often times a cop out...a lot of people rap cuz they want all the flashy shit and most don't deserve it and whore the ART of Hip Hop for their own selfish benefit...but of course this is just MY lowly point of view from the little I know, and hear myself and from others about U.K. Hip Hop |
Resembles old school rap? Could that be because they are BEHIND the times? Their flows tend to be simpler too...from what I've heard...I don't think I've heard ONE UK head out rap any US head on this board...I'm saying take the best with the best...

Again, as for deep, WHO IN THE HELL HAS a RIGHT TO SAY WHAT'S DEEP AND WHAT'S NOT? I rap about my grandmother, live, love, dying, betrayal, politics. But, I also rap about flossin. Just because some UK head is a miserable son-of-a-bitch doesn't make him "deep". Come on man! I agree that "clubbin/party" tracks are hackneyed in the US right now. But, there are other rappers out there. I wouldn't even go so far as to say that's what MOST rappers are rapping about. I'd say that's what they MOSTLY PLAY on the radio. Don't get it twisted.
