What do they do "good"? Well, you have food in your fridge? Clothes on your back? A roof over your head?
An "illegal immigrant" (what you're mis-catagorizing as "day laborer") handles the loading and/or packaging virtually every resource you consume or live in. They're hired by major corporations like Walmart, the gap, your local supermarket, etc. as extremely cheap labor (usually doing the same job that's more efficient than the average american and they don't have to provide them with health insurance. If they didn't build it, package it, or handle it, you wouldn't have access to it and the price would skyrocket.
Don't believe for a second that the US has any interest in stopping any form of incoming and willing cheap labor. Especially not when they're doing 2-3 times the work that the average american would, but for way less money. Works exactly like out sourcing.
