My condenser does that sometimes.

Go into control panel and fuck around with all the sound things and shit... go to the volume advanced thing go to options, go to recording and make sure microphone is checked and on full vol..

Wheneber that happens to me, I usually just unplug the pre amp then plug it back in and wait a few seconds and my mic works... so I dunno.
