A transvestite is often referd to as a crossdresser, one who engages in dressing like a member of the opposite sex. A transexual, is one who engages in having a sex change to become a member of the opposite sex. Often these two factions are mixed up, due to similarities in their name, and similarities in one sex, changing themselves to resemble an opposite sex.
