yea...but a simple "peace out" thread is understandable, especially for people who are well respected on the site...
I don't see the connection between "annoying" good bye threads, and threads dealing with a life altering event. I think tolerance is called for here.
C'mon...you almost ALWAYS know when someone is being sincere or not. How can you hate on that?
