Phenom's thought for the year on 'The Lyricists Lounge'

IP:

Jus thought I would make a quick comment on what I view to be an amazing need for self reassurance in the 'LL'. It seems every thread that I have viewed in the last few days was a) someone offering an opinion about someone's 'personality', etc, assuming their opinion matters to anyone besides themself, or b) someone biting the exact same idea, in hopes that their general opinion of everyone would be accepted, or c) a self justification thread, in which someone tries to prove there self-worth because of something they did/saw/own/said.

Now, of course, this thread itself could be viewed the exact same as any of those I've listed above, and I don't expect anything different than hate from the people who made the original threads I'm talking about. I just always thought hip hop and battling in particular, to me, was about self worth, confidence, and no need for others reassurance. It was about not giving a fuck about what other people thought, and just doing what you do in art form. It was being your own person, destroying someone as hard as you could, and then looking for someone else to do the same thing to. Now, if someone doesn't rub your back, and give you a cookie after you tie your own shoes, kids wild out in a need for attention.

Wow. how things have changed.
