Actually he uses both of them, seeing that you hear the singers on more than one bar. The entire song is a pseudo love song, but dude never mentions whos not in love with him anymore. Male, female, object, nothing. dosen't even imply it.
Oh yeah, his voice is nowhere near the sample lol, that's all background singers. I'm gonna upload it after I clean it up so it sounds like more than someone singing in the rain. Gotta love them old 45's!
