No where does the golden rule say "EXPECT" them to be kind in return. In fact, Jesus taught, "Give and lend, hoping for nothing in return." Then, he says, "Great will be your reward." These are principles that could govern behavior. My point is, if everyone followed the principles are "treat people the way you want to be treated," no one would want for anything.
