If you ever grew up in poverty, or anywhere near it, then you are familiar with roaches. The thing is, just living in a poor area doesn't necessarily mean you have to have roaches. If people would be clean and tidy, then roaches would be at a minimum. They need things to eat and places to hide. If you keep your living quarters spic and span, roaches have no where to nest.


And, yea, they are DISGUSTING.
