I'll tell you something. I've never been in the presence of a child who was dying of AIDS. Sure, they can drug them up to give them a dignified death. But, I'll guarantee you this. Remove those drugs and that's real pain bro. I'm not going to get into a philosophical debate about "pain" verses perception because it's irrelevant to the topic of this thread or even this discussion.
