Oh no, i completely agree with you. I'm not dissmissing the issue completely. Because it is a huge issue, like i said...just not as big as what it is made out to be sometimes.
and as far as mocking people. I see it a lot. What makes comedy funny is, the fact that it's true...or completely absurd. And our mannerisms we use to be employed, have often been a punchline for many comedians....and has been accepted among a lot of people. Now, maybe thats an Oregon thing. Because when I did live in atlanta i didn't really think about things the same way as I do now...but in my experience...the black people here, definately accept that acting proffesional is acting white, and is funny. And here, black call things racist all the time. I've been on the other end of it many times. Luckily I'm great at explaining myself, and have been able to explain to most people how the things I say arn't racist, however....once again, maybe it's an oregon thing.
I grew up in atlanta, recognizing racism, and accepting everything that was claimed to be racism, as racism. I moved to oregon, and as my mind expanded and shit was easier to understand, i noticed my views changing on how things really are. However, that could be coincidentally due to the fact that shit is different over here, and that should somehow apply to the rest of america. Either way though, my point is still true. Because regardless if it doesn't apply to the rest of the world, a part is in fact relevant.
and I think if a black activist is called racist...it's a mixture of 80% ignorance...and 20% the means they try and express there activism. Not every activist is enlightened to the idea of reality, and what it means to be black in a white country....They CAN be just as ignorant as anyone else. And like you said, a lot of the black community accepts being considered lower class in the black ghetto....so the few who don't accept it, are either correct, and are doing the right thing for the right reasons. Or they notice there is something wrong, but handle it differently than it should be handled....speaking out, not lying down, and building people up is an example of positive activism...putting people down without trying to enlighten them, or help them understand when obviously they need it, and foccusing mostly on that isn't very positive to anyones race.
I think the problem is, just like mainstream rap..it's simple for a reason. People don't want to think, they just want to accept shit. Which is why it's easier to point the finger at someone, instead of trying to help them see shit the way it should be seen.
