it isn't necessarily your software, it's the plugins your software has. Juelz Santana has over $30G worth of plug ins on a basic G4 home studio with pro tools, and it's beyond what a $100,000 mixing board could give you. However, give me those SAME plug ins on cool edit, and it should still work just as fine. The program itself doesn't define your quality, its your mic, your recording area (booth), your cables, your mixing, and the filters (plugins) you put your vocals through. Cakewalk, Nuendo, Cool Edit, Pro Tools - it makes no difference other than what you're comfortable using, although each has its own pros n cons. And if you search around (for a while), you can prolly get $5-$10G worth of plugins for free off the net, limewire, etc. word.
